UPCOMING SHOWS - live and live streams!
(all listed time are CDT unless otherwise noted)
For the first time in ten years, I am taking on new students. And I am really, really enjoying it.
For all that the shutdown has taken away, it has given musicians like me something most of us lacked: time. I’ve put basically all of my time since 2009 into becoming the best and most effective performer I could possibly be. And now, finally, I have time to share some of what I’ve learned with you.
I’m a more experienced educator than most realize. I hold a Bachelor of Music (saxophone performance - classical) and Master of Music (jazz studies) from LSU. I’ve done masterclasses, been a guest artist, and taught classes at LSU, SELU, UNO, JSU, and others. I was a member of Teach for America for two years, both of which were spent teaching middle school in NYC, and during which time I received a graduate-level teaching certificate from Pace University. And I’ve been teaching private lessons since I was an undergraduate, all the way back in 2002.
Lessons are offered via Zoom. Topics include saxophone, improvisation, practice/study methods, history and style of jazz/r&b/rock music and how to play idiomatically within these — and just about anything else you might want to cover. Times are flexible. Let’s find a time that works for both of us.
Drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let’s talk music.
